Information SarnIa Lambton (ISL) is a database of community services serving the Sarnia Lambton area. It provides referral services through a book, or on its web site

We are supported by volunteers who update information and by the Board of Directors who handle the daily business of the organization.

We are a non- profit, charitable organization initially funded by
the Province in accordance with the Association of Community Information Centers of
Ontario (ACICO) through municipalities.

The first host of Information Sarnia Lambton was the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce in the mid 1960's. Full time staff had grown to three, fielding 15,000 questions per year. In 1990 the Chamber decided to discontinue hosting this
service.

For the next 5 years the United Way operated Information Sarnia Lambton.
In 1995, a new group of community volunteers continued Information Sarnia Lambton.
Funding currently comes through the sale of information in a printed Community Services Directory, CD’s, and the sale of our database to other organizations.

Over the years, ISL has used Edibase, Excel and Ask Sam as software for our
database. In 2007, ISL has now moved over to using CIOC web based software so our
data can be easily shared between different Information Centres across Canada.

As of 2012, we now have 211 in Lambton County ..
